It’s February 1st and today was the first time in a long time that I truly felt like myself. It was also the first time in over a month that I was not wearing the same tired hoodie/jumpers and joggers that have been in heavy rotation for I don’t know how long. Today I wore a neon green zebra print turtleneck top with a pair of black joggers (babysteps!)
I did my hair the previous day and was wearing my faux locs. For the past two months I have been leaving my hair in the same style for weeks. Partly for convenience and to protect my curls, but also because I didn’t have the energy. I didn’t have the energy to do my hair or any of the other things I usually enjoyed doing.
Despite starting a new job I really enjoy, I still wasn’t feeling that happy. The lows were happening more frequently. It was exhausting trying to manage my mental health and everything else happening in my life. I honestly felt like something was going to give at any moment.
This lockdown and my mental health was a perfect storm.
Luckily I’ve now made it through to the other side – fingers crossed!
A mixture of talk therapy and medication was just what I needed and I’m starting to feel the difference now. I feel good ☀️
